A three-year-old Highland bull named Donald and his heifer companion, Duchess, were among the first to welcome this year’s Taste of Grampian celebrity chefs John Torode and Spencer Matthews as they arrived in Aberdeenshire for tomorrow’s event (1 June 2019). The Highlands, owned by Grace Noble who runs Aberdeenshire Highland Beef near Banchory, seemed pleased to be joining the star-studded line-up who will be working their culinary magic at the event at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. Scotch Beef is the main sponsor of the festival, which is set to attract thousands of visitors for a day headlined by the Masterchef stars, also including Gary Maclean, and packed with fabulous local food, friendship and fun. The event is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and, from humble beginnings, has grown to become Scotland’s biggest one-day food and drink festival.
Quality Meat Scotland has supported the event from the start and its Director of Marketing and Communications, Carol McLaren, said it is a very special event to be involved in.
“As the main sponsors of Taste of Grampian, we are looking forward to a very special festival this year. As well as John and Spencer, we are pleased to be welcoming back former Masterchef winner Gary Maclean, to the event which is truly a foodie’s paradise,” said Ms McLaren. One new demonstration which is sure to be a hit with visitors is a cook-off showdown between Gary Maclean, Scotland’s National Chef, and popular local chef Sandy Greig, who is one half of the Two fat Laddies.
The action will involve the pair producing a simple, tasty dish from Scotch Lamb and some mystery items, with the proceedings overseen by Colin Slessor, ANM Group auctioneer and star of the hit TV series, The Mart.
Guests at the event will have their taste buds tantalised by the delicious range of food and drink from producers in the north-east and beyond. The excellent line up of entertainment including masterclasses, magicians, and a motor show means that the event is set to be a fun day out for the whole family. The Taste of Grampian festival takes places on Saturday the 1st June from 9-5 at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. For more information, please visit https://www.tasteofgrampian.co.uk/
