Dumfriesshire Butcher Embraces the Christmas Spirit

The festive period is one of the busiest times of the year for butcher's shops throughout Scotland who are busy serving customers and offering valuable advice to customers on recipe ideas, cooking and storage.

Among the many butchers businesses entering into the Christmas spirit at this exceptionally busy time of year is Thornhill-based John G Renicks Butchers.

The team at Renwicks, who pride themselves on the quality of their service and meat products including their award-winning pies, are enjoying the hectic run-up to Christmas, serving customers with top quality festive fayre from Scotch Beef  sirloin roasts to a rack of delicious Scotch Lamb.

During the festive period the business will also sell hundreds of Scotch Beef steak pies, which are a New Year favourite, along with a range of other top quality products.

John G Renicks, which was established 27 years ago, is one of around 300 butchers’ businesses which are members of the Scotch Butchers Club. The Club focuses on provenance and its members take a pride in selling Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork sourced from quality assured suppliers.

Iain Renicks, who runs the shop along with his mother Ellen and brother Jim, said the atmosphere in the shop at this time of year is fantastic.

“There is definitely an air of excitement with customers stocking up on a range products to enjoy with family and friends in the coming weeks.

“We wish all of our customers a very happy Christmas and look forward to continuing to serve top quality Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb in 2016.”

Graeme Sharp, QMS Marketing Executive said: “Butchers are at the heart of every community, providing fantastic customer service and product knowledge to their customers every day.

“During the festive period, products from local butchers are second to none when it comes to taste and quality.”
