One of Scotland’s finest ingredients will be on the menu at a popular Dundee bistro during Love Lamb Week this week (1-7 September) as part of a nationwide campaign to support Scottish farmers and the wider supply chain.
The Bach has partnered with Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) to create the limited-edition dish of shredded Scotch Lamb, chopped roti bread, vegetables, egg & aromatic spices topped with a spicy gravy, available during Love Lamb Week to highlight the delicious flavours and versatility of one of Scotland’s most prized ingredients.
Scotch Lamb PGI is a high-quality, delicious meat that is sourced from selected Scottish farms which adhere to stringent quality assurance and animal welfare standards, with the local Scott Brothers butchers, who are members of QMS’ Scotch Butchers Club, providing the Scotch Lamb that will be delighting fans of big flavours in Dundee.
Lesley Cameron, Director of Marketing and Communications at Quality Meat Scotland, the organisation which promotes Scotch Lamb, said: “Scottish butchers and food service operators up and down the supply chain have been working harder than ever in recent months to provide people with world-class Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork, so we are delighted to be partnering with The Bach Bistro to give people the chance to try Scotch Lamb in a new and exciting way.
“Lamb can sometimes be overlooked in favour of other meats, but we hope that enjoying it with the delicious, spiced flavours on offer from The Bach will help people see how tasty and versatile it is.”
Wendy Stewart, owner of The Bach, said: “We’re really excited for customers to try the delicious, local Scotch Lamb mixed with the vibrant, aromatic flavours of Sri Lanka, which together make a brilliantly balanced dish.
“We’re committed to supporting the Scottish red meat industry and are proud to be a part of the Scotch Beef Club, which recognises this commitment and means customers can have the confidence in the quality and integrity of our ingredients.”
Love Lamb Week was founded in 2015 and helps promote lamb’s delicious flavour, environmental credentials and how lamb can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet. To stay up to date, follow The Scotch Kitchen on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
