Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) has recognized two importers for their longstanding loyalty and commitment to the Scotch brand.
Beauvallet, a Scotch Beef importer based in France, and Van Engelandt, a Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb importer from Belgium, were presented with awards by Christophe Marguin, chef/proprietor of Restaurant Christophe Marguin and QMS Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb Ambassador for France. The presentations took place at the QMS stand at SIAL Trade Fair, one of the largest food fairs in the world, where QMS has a significant presence.
Beauvallet, which has twelve sites globally, concentrates on four main activities: traditional retailing; catering; processed and cooked products; and international sourcing. Based in Pithiviers, north-central France, they have been working with QMS since 1996 and acted as the distribution link in the Bocuse d’Or supply chain when QMS were major sponsors of the event.
Van Engelandt, based near the old meat market area in Brussels, has been supporting the Scotch brand since 1980. Originally only selling produce to restaurants, Van Engelandt’s range has been gradually extended to high quality meats from all over the world. They deal with three Scottish suppliers and offer Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork to upmarket, leading Belgian retailers as well as the restaurant trade.
“Both Beauvallet and Van Engelandt have been staunch supporters of the Scotch brand and it is our pleasure to present them with a token of our appreciation,” said Jim McLaren, QMS Chairman.
“Both companies, together with the QMS French and Benelux development consultants, are actively supporting Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork in their home markets.
“It is vital that we continue to build on the already strong market presence in Belgium and France, and of course across Europe, to ensure that retailers and consumers are aware of the quality and provenance which underpins Scotch Beef and Lamb with its acclaimed PGI status.”
