Lockdown has probably got you running low on ideas for family lockdown entertainment, so why get the children involved in cooking this Mother’s Day (14 March).
Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is promoting four new family friendly recipes which are hoped to inspire families to get the kids behind the stove to learn about cooking and make some special memories while doing it.
Each recipe features on the QMS YouTube channel and the videos have been designed with specific cooking skills and learning points geared towards educating children about how to cook, as well as the quality and provenance of Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork:
By choosing to buy Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI or Specially Selected Pork, you can be assured that the meat you are cooking with has been reared on Scottish farms that adopt best practice regarding animal welfare and production methods.
The recipes can also be found on QMS’s recently launched digital platform Farming Foodsteps, which is aimed at secondary pupils and covers the journey from farm to fork and everything in between, including technology in farming, food production and health.
Lesley Cameron, Director of Marketing & Communications at Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) said: “As we approach the second Mother’s Day in lockdown, and after a year of home schooling, mothers and mother figures deserve a day of relaxation, which is why we have developed these four simple recipes as a way for children to experience cooking and develop their culinary skills. It’s also important that children learn to cook healthy and nutritious meals and red meat is widely known for health benefits such as being high in protein, vitamins and minerals.
“So whether your children are just in their bedrooms or in your extended household bubble, make sure you have them rustling up something delightful in your kitchen this Mothering Sunday.”
