One of Scotland’s most iconic food brands, Scotch Lamb, is this year backing the Dundee Flower and Food Festival for the first time.
Around 23,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day Festival, which also marks the beginning of Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight and heralds the start of Scotch Lamb’s main season.Scotch Lamb is joining an impressive line-up of sponsors and top chefs supporting the Festival held at Dundee’s Camperdown Country Park from September 3rd – 5th.
As well as showcasing top Scottish produce, the Festival is also set to welcome some of the country’s most acclaimed chefs. And this year TV celebrity duo The Hairy Bikers will be dropping in on the Saturday and Sunday, September 4th and 5th.
The two cooks, also known as Dave Myers and Simon King, have won the hearts of millions of television viewers with their combined love of motorcycling with down-to-earth cookery.
The pair will be spending two days cooking and mingling with thousands of visitors to the Festival, including Katharine Brown, who is Miss UK and former Miss Scotland.
Katharine will attend the event on Saturday, September 4th in her role as Healthy Eating Ambassador for Quality Meat Scotland, the organisation which promotes Scotch Lamb.
Miss Brown, who was brought up in Tayside, said she was very much looking forward to meeting visitors at the event.
“It will be my first time at the Festival which has grown into such a wonderful event packed with entertainment - it really is a jewel in Tayside’s crown.
“The Festival’s Desperate Dan-wich competition is a fabulous initiative to encourage children to think about the importance of eating a healthy diet and to be creative with food and have confidence to try something a little different,” she said.
September is the season when Scotch Lamb is at its most succulent and to celebrate Quality Meat Scotland will be offering visitors free recipe suggestions and a free apron to all 180 children taking part in the Desperate Dan-wich competition.
“I’m also looking forward to being able to see some of Scotland’s top chef’s in action including Steve Craik of The Famous Grouse Experience who will be demonstrating some great Scotch Lamb recipes including Dundee Scotch Lamb Steaks.
