While the butcher shop may not be the first place you’d think of taking the kids, a new Quality Meat Scotland campaign could make it a must visit this summer.
With children throughout the country now on their school holidays and parents and grandparents in search of activities to keep the little ones occupied, visitors to members of the Scotch Butchers Club will not only get great quality meat and advice on cooking it, but also activities to help turning their kids into mini gourmets.
The campaign features a new recipe booklet As Easy As ABC, which has tips on how to get children involved with buying and cooking Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork at home.
The booklet has been designed to help educate and enthuse consumers on the possibilities of teaching their children and grandchildren to cook and prepare delicious meals with red meat. It is packed with top tips to get children involved in the cooking process.
Butchers will also receive children’s activity packs which include activities such as word searches, jokes and colouring in sheets focused around the theme of farming and meat.
Jack Broussine, Marketing Executive for QMS who runs the Scotch Butchers Club, said: “Quality Meat Scotland’s activities are always aimed at ensuring Scottish children know about the great read meat that’s produced here, and the importance of it as part of a healthy, balanced diet.
“This could offer a unique opportunity for independent butchers as parents and families are a key demographic, and getting kids used to shopping in the butcher shop is a great way of ensuring that they know there are more options than just going straight to the supermarket.”
The Scotch Butchers Club is for independent retailers that source Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and/or Specially Selected Pork and promote these to their customers. To find a Scotch Butchers Club member near you, visit www.scotchbutchersclub.org
