Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is helping consumers understand the quality and versatility of Scotch Lamb PGI with the launch of a new guide.
A New Lamb Guide with recipes is a full-colour glossy publication which aims to inform consumers about what makes Scotch Lamb a cut above the rest both in production and taste.
The 127 page book is packed with delicious Scotch Lamb recipes and highlights why this exceptional red meat is guaranteed to come from animals born and reared only on Scottish farms which are quality assured and make animal welfare a priority.
Suzie Carlaw, QMS Marketing Controller said: “One of the main aims of the new publication is to ensure that when consumers see the Scotch Lamb PGI label in supermarkets, butcher’s shops, or restaurants, they know why they can be confident that the meat they are buying is of the highest quality.”
Ms Carlaw said the book, which is being distributed to top chefs and food writers as well as at events and through competitions, contains information which is of value for people with a wide range of cooking skills and knowledge.
“Within the guide, consumers will find out why there is so much more to Scotch Lamb PGI than a delicious Sunday roast.
“Whether it is a quick stir-fry, a leg roast or leftovers, this book will guide you through what you really need to know.”
This book has been produced by QMS, the public body responsible for helping the Scottish red meat sector promote Scotch Lamb PGI. To be sold under the Scotch Lamb brand, lamb must have been produced from farms which have been quality assured as part of a scheme which is one of the longest-running in the world.
This quality assurance scheme, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015, covers a wide range of aspects of production from the farm where an animal is produced to the feed it eats, haulage, auction markets and processors.
