An Edinburgh food sensation has launched two new limited-edition bagels featuring Scotland’s finest quality lamb (20-24 April) and beef (25 April-2 May) to help customers create the ultimate springtime picnic, while also supporting Scotland’s red meat industry.
Following the success of its first ever Scotch Lamb PGI bagel last summer, Bross Bagels has expanded its partnership with Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) to create two limited edition picnic bagels featuring Scotch Beef PGI and Scotch Lamb PGI, which will be delighting customers at its Bruntsfield, Leith and Portobello shops as part of the Make It Spring campaign.
The first of the two special-edition bagels – available 20-24 April – which has launched just in time for outdoor meeting and travel restrictions easing, is a sesame bagel filled with slow roast Scotch Lamb shoulder, mint yoghurt, pitta crisps, pickled red onion and coriander.
Next up will be a pretzel bagel featuring salt beef brisket, mus-tar (mustard-based tartar sauce), Swiss cheese, frickles (fried pickles) and sauerkraut and will be on offer to customers from 25 April-2 May.
For those unable to enjoy the delights put on the Bross Bagels menus, they can still bring some excitement to their picnics by following the full recipes for both bagels, which will be shared on the Bross Bagels Instagram and the Scotch Kitchen.
Saundersons Butchers in Bruntsfield is providing the Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb that will be tantalising taste buds across the capital city which has been sourced from trusted Scottish farms, that adhere to the highest animal welfare and quality production methods.
Lesley Cameron, Director of Marketing and Communications at Quality Meat Scotland, said: “As we move further into spring and people continue meeting up outdoors, we are keen to offer consumers something to make their picnics a little more exciting and we saw no better way to do that than by working with the Edinburgh bagel authority that is Bross Bagels again.
“We are delighted to have grown our partnership with Bross this time round to offer a Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb bagel for a week each to allow picnickers the chance to enjoy world-class red meat while also supporting local farmers and the wider Scottish red meat supply chain.”
Larah Bross, founder of Bross Bagels, said: “At Bross Bagels, our philosophy is based on bringing together the best of Montreal bagel culture with the very best Scottish produce from local suppliers, so it’s great to be working with our neighbour Saundersons Butchers, Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb, to create two special edition bagels.
“We’re also hugely passionate about creating joyful flavour combinations, so hopefully our limited-edition bagels and recipes will inspire people to savour the tastes of spring and try something guaranteed to take their picnics to a hole new level!”
