Michael Blanche has been appointed to Quality Meat Scotland’s Industry Development team as a Knowledge Transfer Specialist.
Mr Blanche’s new role with QMS will involve the effective delivery of a range of activities aimed at improving the efficiency, productivity and profitability of beef and lamb supply for the Scottish red meat processing industry.
Mr Blanche (44), who is married to Kate and has four children, farms at Culteuchar Farm near Perth having built up a flock on seasonal lets over eight years. His sheep enterprise is based on a flock made up of Wiltshire Horn cross Texels, Lleyns and Scottish Blackfaces.
Having previously worked part-time as QMS’s Scottish Sheep Strategy Development Officer, Mr Blanche has also held posts as a SAC agricultural adviser and latterly an independent farm consultant. He is also a 2010 Nuffield Scholar.
“Michael brings with him a wide range of experience, as well as a great passion for Scottish farming, and I am delighted to welcome him to the team,” said Johnny Mackey, QMS Head of Industry Development.
“Michael will play an important role in the successful delivery of our programme of grassroot activities aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability and confidence of the Scottish red meat industry.”
