Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) has boosted its small team with the appointment of two new members of staff.
Tom Gibson has joined QMS as the Head of Market Development and Kirsty Fox as Marketing Manager.
Tom previously worked as Marketing Manager with Scotmid Co-operative and has over 25 years of retail experience.
His new role with QMS will focus on working collaboratively with the Scottish red meat industry to identify opportunities for the sector to maintain, build and access new market opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.
Tom will also look at strengthening existing partnerships with retailers, the food service industry, suppliers and exporters, to showcase and promote the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands.
As Marketing Manager, Kirsty will lead the GB marketing activity behind the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands.
Kirsty studied Advertising at the University of Gloucestershire and has worked for over a decade in the retail industry, most recently at Aldi in the role of Advertising Co-ordinator.
Alan Clarke, QMS Chief Executive, said he was delighted to welcome Tom and Kirsty to the team.
“Promoting the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands is one of the key activities which QMS undertakes with 72% of our levy spend dedicated to education and marketing.
“Ensuring our brands are visible to consumers as well as retail and food service buyers is vital to the continued growth and long-term sustainability of the Scottish red meat industry.
“Both Tom and Kirsty are valuable additions to the team and bring a great deal of marketing knowledge and experience from their previous roles.”
