Commenting on the Agricultural Bill consultation, Chair of QMS, Kate Rowell said:
“QMS is pleased to read that Scottish ministers are committed to encouraging the production of high quality food, produced more sustainably; just as Scottish beef, sheep and pig production is world renowned for.
“The Scottish red meat supply chain is currently facing a number of challenges linked to high input costs, decreased consumer confidence and labour shortages, and more detail will be required to give producers confidence to ride out this challenging period.
“Everyone in industry should take the opportunity to feed in their views on the consultation to ensure that policy is developed that meets the current challenges.”
