Tom Gibson, Director of Market Development at Quality Meat Scotland says:
“QMS welcomes the news that the US has lifted its ban on British Lamb, providing a potential new export market for Scotch Lamb PGI.
“Scotland’s sheep producers have experienced record prices over the past year and the prospect of accessing new international markets, post Brexit, will be one I’m sure many are keen to grasp.
“The potential value over five years to Scotland’s lamb exporters could be £13m at current exchange rates and QMS will be working closely with industry and the Government to ensure that producers and processors of Scotch Lamb PGI can benefit from this opportunity.”
