At an industry breakfast hosted by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) on day two of the Royal Highland Show, the First Minister pledged her commitment to Scottish agriculture with the detailing of a £200m fund focused on boosting food security in Scotland and addressing the biodiversity and climate crises.
Kate Rowell, Chair of QMS, welcomed the investment saying:
“As an industry, this is reassurance that the Scottish Government both recognises the centrality of our role in enhancing food security, reducing emissions and in the prosperity of rural communities, as well as the challenges currently facing us.
“This fund demonstrates a willingness to work together, and we are ready to grasp all opportunities necessary for safeguarding a strong future for the Scottish red meat industry.”
