Jim McLaren, Chairman of Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), said: “The year 2014 has seen Scotland in the international limelight for many reasons – from the Commonwealth Games and the forth-coming Ryder Cup to the more recent intense global interest in Scotland’s political landscape.
“Today’s Referendum outcome brings to an end a period of uncertainty about Scotland’s place in the United Kingdom. We now move forward with renewed focus on the exciting future for our industry.
“As we prepare to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink in 2015, we have a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of our iconic brands - Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork.
“Our red meat industry is worth over £2 billion to Scotland’s economy and the appreciation of the quality of our brands by customers in the rest of the UK has played a huge part in the growth of our industry.
“QMS is gearing up to have a strong presence at SIAL, one of the world’s largest food fairs, in Paris next month and we look forward to further strengthening our valued relationships with existing loyal customers and welcoming new customers to our brands, both in the UK and overseas.”
