Rule the Roast this St Andrew’s Day with New Roasting Guide

Consumers are being encouraged to make the most of their roasts by following some simple rules this St Andrew’s Day as part of the Scotch Butchers Club “Roasting Rules” campaign.   Over 250 Scotch Butchers Club members from across the UK are offering their customers a new booklet “Roasting Rules Your Guide to Roasting Plus Recipes” which details how to prepare delicious Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork roasts.   Including how to get the basics right, cooking methods and perfect accompaniments, the compact booklet also contains traditional recipes like roast topside of Scotch Beef and roast loin of pork with apples, as well as leftover recipes such as lamb and tomato curry and chilli beef.   Jamie Scott, previous BBC Masterchef:The Professionals winner and Chef Patron of the Newport Restaurant, which was recently awarded the coveted AA Restaurant of the Year Award 2018-19, said that one of his favourite things to cook when his family get together on St Andrew’s Day is a Scotch Beef PGI roast.   “I don’t think there is anything better at this time of year than a delicious Scotch Beef roast accompanied by loads of locally-sourced vegetables,” said Mr Scott.   “I’m a total advocate for zero waste, so I also love using the leftovers from the roast to create something quick and easy, like a beef stroganoff or soup, for the family.”   Graeme Sharp, Scotch Butchers Club Manager said that if consumers are looking to prepare a show-stopping roast for St Andrew’s Day or Christmas this booklet is a must-have.   “Roasting is one of the simplest ways to cook a large cut of meat and our new recipe booklet includes recipes for celebratory roasts with all the trimmings to mini-roasts suitable for two.   “Whether it’s a Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI or Specially Selected Pork roast, by following the golden rules of roasting and the delicious recipes included in the booklet, consumers will definitely be on to a winner.”   The booklets are available in Scotch Butchers Club shops across the UK. Butchers who are members of the Scotch Butchers Club, which is run by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), source their Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork from suppliers who adhere to QMS’s Quality Assurance Scheme.
