Scotch Beef Backs Health Category at Young Scots “Oscars”

Scotch Beef Ambassador, Chris Capaldi (also known as Glen) will present the health award at this weekend’s Sunday Mail 2013 Young Scot Awards.

A number of inspiring young Scots are in the frame to win the award, sponsored for the first time by Quality Meat Scotland. Perthshire-based, Hannah Clarke (18), Edinburgh-based Ellie Gordon-Woolgar (12) and East Ayrshire's TreMENDous Graduates have been celebrating after reaching the finals of the awards which have been described as Scotland’s young people’s Oscars.

The Young Scot Awards have been honouring the achievements of the country’s incredible young people for the last seven years. The awards have discovered some of the most astonishing stories of bravery, courage, kindness, selflessness and creativity.

The Health category is aimed at showcasing individuals and groups who should be celebrated for the help or encouragement they have given to others including promoting a healthy lifestyle or supporting the community to deal with health issues.

Jennifer Robertson, Quality Meat Scotland’s Health and Education Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the health category in this year’s Young Scot Awards.

“QMS already undertakes a range of activities to encourage awareness of the role of red meat in good nutrition and a healthy diet and these awards enhance our ongoing work.

“All of the finalists are truly inspirational. Their commitment and dedication in making a positive impact on the lives of others and making a real difference in their local community is to be commended.”

The event will take place in Glasgow on Friday 19 April and the for the first time ever, highlights of the awards will be broadcast on STV and will be shown at 10pm on Sunday 21 April.

Chris Capaldi, Scotch Beef Glen, will present the award to the winner of the category and Scotch Beef will feature prominently at the event, with Scotch Beef burgers being served to over 500 dinner attendees.
