Two of Scotland’s most iconic foods – Scotch Beef PGI and Scotch Lamb PGI – are set to be high profile in Hong Kong next month at Hofex, Asia’s leading food and hospitality trade show.
Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) will have a strong presence at this year’s event (May 6th – May 9th, 2015) with master butcher Viv Harvey demonstrating his craft at the event, using top quality Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb.
QMS will also have a presence on the Scottish Pavilion stand where a chef will be preparing samples of top quality produce for potential buyers to savour.
Laurent Vernet, QMS’s Head of Marketing, will be attending the event along with a number of Scottish meat company representatives.
During the event in 2015 – Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink – QMS will be driving home the message about the natural production methods, high welfare and quality assurance which underpins the brands.
According to Mr Vernet, Hong Kong offers significant potential for Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb sales growth in the coming years and
“While the volume of Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb currently being sold to customers in Hong Kong is relatively small we can see real opportunities for growth there,” he said.
“Our particular focus at the moment is developing our customer-base in the food service and deli-retailer sectors and longer-term we are confident that Hong Kong will be key to gaining wider access to other potentially lucrative markets in south-east Asia.”
Hofex is the region’s leading hospitality tradeshow. Hofex 2015 will be the largest show ever in its history with 65,000 square metres of exhibition space, providing a platform for 2,400 international exhibitors to connect with 40,000 regional buyers.
