Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork Shine at RHS 2025

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) wrapped up another fantastic Royal Highland Show at Ingliston this weekend. Over four days, the QMS stand became a buzzing hub of conversation, connection and celebration – all in the name of Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork. From lively cookery demos in the Food for Thought theatre to hands-on family activities and tastings at Aldi, QMS proudly flew the flag for Scotland’s red meat industry under the banner of its latest campaign, When You Know, You Know.

Kate Rowell, Chair of QMS, said: “It’s always a privilege to be part of the Royal Highland Show, but this year really felt special. The sunshine when it appeared helped, of course – but more than that, it was the energy, the enthusiasm, and the genuine pride in what we produce here in Scotland. From passionate young chefs to the dedicated farmers behind the blue labels, we’re so proud to celebrate everyone in our industry.”

Show highlights included:

  • Retailer partnerships: Visitors enjoyed delicious samples of Scotch Beef and Specially Selected Pork at Aldi, cookery demos at Lidl, and the chance to win a Traeger BBQ.
  • Food for Thought Theatre: Sponsored by The Scotch Butchers Club and Native Hebridean Salmon, this year’s line-up featured top talent like Butcher Wars Champion Sean Graham, MasterChef: The Professionals winner Derek Johnstone and Scottish Young Chef of the Year Oliver Redgwell-Welch.
  • Young farmer support: QMS was proud to sponsor the SAYFC Stock Judging Competition. Congratulations to Stevie Taylor from Clyde and Central on being named Stockman of the Year. Well done to all the other winners and everyone who took part.
  • Family engagement: Activities with RHET proved a hit, and visits from Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby professional players highlighted the role of red meat in a healthy, active lifestyle.
  • RSABI fundraiser: Limited edition QMS t-shirts sold out, raising valuable funds to support people in Scottish agriculture.
  • Monitor Farm reception: where Rob Wainwright OBE – farmer and member of the RHASS Presidential Team – shared his insights on the use of virtual fencing technology on his own farm.

The show also provided a timely platform to share the findings of QMS and the Scottish Red Meat Resilience Group’s latest call to action: “Home grown or handed away?” The messaging urged retailers and the wider Scottish red meat supply chain to stand united and back local red meat over rising imports, highlighting strong consumer demand for Scottish beef, lamb and pork, and concern over the long-term impact of increased foreign sourcing.

A key moment at the show came as industry leaders, retailers, government and stakeholders gathered at the QMS business breakfast to sign the Meating Our Potential pledge – a united commitment to support local production and safeguard the future of Scotland’s red meat supply chain.

QMS would like to thank everyone who visited the stand, supported the programme, or simply stopped by for a friendly conversation.
