An esteemed chef and butcher will be teaming up to treat audiences to a series of engaging demonstrations at this year’s Peebleshire Agricultural Show on Saturday (17th August).
Sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland, the Food and Drink pavilion at the annual agricultural event will host three demonstrations by chef Christopher Trotter and butcher Robbie Hughan from The Smidddy Butchers and Farm Shop in Blair Drummond.
The pair will work together to deliver three demonstrations involving Scotch Lamb and Scotch Beef, with Robbie showcasing different butchery techniques to prep the meats that Christopher will then use in his recipes, creating delicious and flavourful dishes for audiences to enjoy.
Returning to the show for the second year in a row, Christopher has a passion for locally sourced food and looks forward to shining a light on the fantastic local produce and producers available to consumers in this region of Scotland.
Speaking on the event Christopher said: “I’m delighted to be heading back to this year’s Peebleshire Agricultural Show. My demonstrations last year were well received by the crowds that came along to watch so I hope to build on last year’s success with some even more fun and engaging demos.”
“Working with an experienced butcher like Robbie is great because it gives me the assurance that the meats I’ll be cooking with have all been properly prepared, allowing me to turn it into something delicious for the audience to try.”
Ciara El-Mansi, PR & Marketing Executive at QMS said: “We are very pleased to be able to support this year’s Peebles Agricultural Show. This is an amazing opportunity for QMS to show their support for all of the amazing local producers that we are so lucky to have here in Scotland. As a nation we are spoiled for choice with such a varied and flavourful natural larder, especially when it comes to meat.
“We are delighted to have Christopher and Robbie along to showcase both Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb and can’t wait to see what they cook up on the day.”
Christopher and Robbie will be running hour long demonstrations at 11am, 1pm and 3pm at the Food and Drink Pavilion, giving audiences a chance to taste a variety of delicious and flavourful dishes.
The annual Peeblesshire Agricultural Show is held at Nether Horsburgh Bungalow in Innerleithen and is set to attract visitors from all across Scotland and further afield eager to see livestock bred in the area and take in the various family friendly events run on the day.
