Butchers are gearing up for their busiest time of the year with thousands of customers set to descend on shops across the country looking for a special festive feast.
During the festive period, butchers will each serve up a host of delicious products for their customers to enjoy with friends and family in the coming weeks, including a huge number of Scotch Beef PGI steak pies, which are a traditional favourite for New Year.
Borders-based Forsyths Butchers and Bakers is no exception, with Scotch Beef sirloin roasts and Scotch Lamb meatballs topping its customers’ ‘yuletide favourites chart’.
Forsyths is one of around 300 butchers’ businesses which are members of the Scotch Butchers Club. The Club focuses on provenance and its members take a pride in selling Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork sourced from quality assured suppliers.
Mike Forsyth of Forsyths Butchers and Bakers in Peebles commented: “There is always such an excitement in the shop at this time of year as we help people get ready for Christmas - and we thrive on it.
“Our team are also ready and willing to help with advice and ideas for customers seeking some inspiration about what to cook and we can also help with some tips on how to make delicious meals with leftover meat – helping to make their Christmas spend go further.”
Forsyths is also one of a number of butchers’ shops around the country who are helping to raise money for two excellent children’s charities in the run-up to Christmas. Customers will be able to buy the “Round the Table” charity cookbook produced by QMS. All the profits of the book sales go to Children 1st and CHAS (the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland).
