Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork will enjoy a high profile this weekend as Perthshire Chamber of Commerce serves up another helping of its Perthshire On A Plate food festival.
The two-day spectacular which showcases not only celebrity chefs creating delicious dishes with local produce, but also the outstanding culinary talents of some of the district's top chefs, is being staged as an integral part of the popular Perth Show at Perth’s South Inch on Friday and Saturday, August 3 and 4.
Favourite Irish chef Paul Rankin and Scotland's own Jak O'Donnell will take centre stage by cooking up a storm for a fun-filled celebration of food and drink.
Mr Rankin, who is a renowned chef and firm favourite with TV viewers, will cook Grilled Fillet of Scotch Beef with Salsa Verde and Noisettes of Scotch Lamb with a Mustard and Basil Cream at the event on Friday.
Topping the bill on Saturday is celebrity chef, Jacqueline O'Donnell (Jak) who is chef/patron at The Sisters Restaurants in Glasgow and who has worked with famous chefs such as Raymond Blanc in the past and has had frequent TV appearances including The Great British Menu.
Making her debut visit to Perthshire On A Plate, Jak will wow the crowds with Roast Scotch Lamb Rump with Spiced Hazelnut Crust and Specially Selected Pork Tenderloin, Strawberry Salsa and Ginger Crème Fraiche.
The event will also showcase a selection of Perthshire's finest food and drink producers and feature a pop-up restaurant area where visitors can dine on sample size portions of meals created by local restaurants.
Carol McLaren, Director of Marketing and Communications with Quality Meat Scotland, said QMS was pleased to be supporting the Perthshire on a Plate initiative, launched in 2016.
“Perthshire on a Plate is an event which is going from strength the strength, providing consumers with a better understanding of the quality, local produce which is on their doorstep.”
