A Perthshire sheep farmer has joined Quality Meat Scotland’s Scotch Lamb ambassadors in a Perth supermarket to encourage shoppers to add Scotch Lamb PGI to their shopping baskets.
James Forbes of Clunebeg Farm, Pitlochry was in Tesco to tempt consumers with tasty samples as part of a Scotland-wide Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) in-store promotional campaign.
Retailers are showing strong support for Quality Meat Scotland’s 2016 Scotch Lamb campaign by hosting promotional stations in stores across the country.
Tesco stores throughout Scotland will provide space for QMS “Lambassadors” to cook delicious samples of Scotch Lamb to serve to shoppers, highlighting the fantastic taste, simplicity and versatility of Scotch Lamb.
Mr Forbes said that he was delighted to show his support for the Scotch Lamb brand by attending a sampling event.
“I think these events are a fantastic opportunity for farmers to engage with consumers about what goes in to putting fresh, tasty Scotch Lamb on their plates.
“By giving shoppers a taste of this fantastic product, we hope to remind those who don’t regularly buy lamb what a great, versatile meat it is.”
The Scotch Lamb in-store promotional events kicked off in the Perth Tesco Extra store, with a further 36 taking place in Scottish retailers during the UK-wide ‘Love Lamb Week’ (1-7 September) alone.
Suzie Carlaw, QMS Marketing Controller said: “Our ambassadors are delivering 89 days of in-store Scottish retail activity throughout the three month campaign, creating excitement in the shopping aisles to really showcase Scotch Lamb.
“The Scottish sheep industry is justifiably proud of the Scotch Lamb they produce in Scotland. We hope that by tempting shoppers with a wee taste of this fantastic product, we can encourage families to put this versatile meat on their shopping list.”
Scotch Lamb is an excellent source of protein, iron, zinc and B vitamins, making it the perfect component for a healthy and balanced mid-week meal.
The 2016 campaign is aimed at driving consumer awareness, providing education around nutritional benefits and, ultimately, encouraging shoppers to add Scotch Lamb to their shopping lists.
Miss Carlaw added: “With a firm focus on the ease of cooking delicious, nutritious mid-week family meals with Scotch Lamb PGI, we want to reinstate its status as a firm family favourite.”
