Scotch Brands

To carry the QMS industry branding, Scotch Beef UK GI, Scotch Lamb UK GI and Specially Selected Pork must be born, reared and processed in Scotland.

Scotch Quality Assured meat also means that the animals that the meat has come from have been raised to the highest welfare standards. The Scottish SPCA (Scotland’s Animal Welfare Charity) independently inspects farms to ensure these standards are being maintained.

Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb both proudly hold UK GI status, legally protecting the brands from imitation. UK GI status is only granted when a product fully satisfies strict guidelines which demand a link between the traditions and environment of the country of origin, and a product which is of the highest quality.

Born & Reared – The Scotch Difference

Only meat ‘Born & Reared in Scotland’ can carry the world-famous Scotch brand mark – a symbol of whole-life reassurance for you and your family. UK GI Certified Scotch Beef and Lamb hold the coveted UK GI status legally protecting the brand from imitation.

  • Respectfully reared: Independent welfare checks are carried out on farms by the Scottish SPCA.
  • Perfect climate: An abundant supply of rain in Scotland creates lush grasslands without the need for irrigation.
  • Perfect landscape: Over 80% of our land is grass or rough grazing, not suitable for crops but ideal for livestock.
  • Independently audited: To a strict set of standards covering animal welfare, food safety and best practice.
  • Part of a natural cycle: Grass grazed by livestock absorbs carbon from the atmosphere and captures it in the soil.
