QMS to Showcase Innovation at RNAS BeefTech 25

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) will be attending BeefTech 25 on Wednesday 28 May 2025, at Home Farm, Kininmonth, Peterhead, with kind permission from the Gall family.

This one-day event is set to be a key date in the beef industry calendar, offering visitors the chance to explore the latest technologies and innovations shaping the future of beef farming. QMS will be on hand throughout the day to share how it supports Scottish beef producers and promotes the exceptional quality of Scotch Beef. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the QMS stand for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and find out more about the organisation’s work.

A major feature of QMS’s presence at the event will be the seminar Embracing Virtual Fencing Technology to Enhance the Environment and Farm Profitability in Scotland. Taking place at 11am, the session will be led by Christine Cuthbertson, regional adviser for the Monitor Farm Programme, who will be joined by Ann Elinor Aasen, head of farmer success at Monil. Together, they will provide an update on this forward-thinking project and explore how virtual fencing can support improved pasture management, efficiency and sustainability in the beef sector.

“Virtual fencing offers exciting opportunities for improving pasture management, efficiency, and sustainability in the beef sector. We look forward to sharing the latest developments and experiences with farmers at BeefTech 25,” said Christine.

In addition to the seminar, QMS will be involved in a live butchery demonstrations, delivered by local butchers Ian J. McIntosh – proud members of the Scotch Butchers Club and Gordon Newlands, QMS Brand Development Manager. The demonstration will take place at 10:30am and will highlight the versatility and value of Scotch Beef. Visitors will see first-hand the skill involved in butchery, with a focus on a range of cuts and how the whole carcase can be maximised to deliver both quality and profitability.

The QMS stand will host an exciting learning session tailored for school pupils attending the event, helping them explore the full journey of beef – from farm to plate. At the heart of the session is our interactive ‘Journey of Red Meat’ display, supported by engaging farm-themed props. This hands-on experience, which is widely delivered in schools and communities across Scotland, highlights the care, quality assurance and sustainability built into every stage of red meat production. Pupils will gain valuable insight into the role Scottish red meat plays in a healthy, balanced diet, as well as its contribution to the economy and the environment.

QMS’s Head of Industry Development, Bruce McConachie, encouraged farmers and stakeholders to visit the QMS stand during the event.

“BeefTech 25 is a fantastic opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies and ideas for improving productivity and profitability in beef production. We’re excited to be part of it and look forward to speaking with farmers about how we can support innovation across the sector,” said Bruce.

With trade stands, live demonstrations and valuable networking opportunities, BeefTech 25 promises to be an unmissable event for those involved in the beef industry.
