Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is delighted to announce its participation in the National Sheep Association (NSA) Highland Sheep event on Wednesday 11 June 2025, at Midfearn Farm, Ardgay, with kind permission from the Brooke Family. This one-day event promises to be an essential gathering for anyone involved in or passionate about the sheep industry.
QMS will be showcasing at Stand 48, Building 3, and invites visitors to stop by, chat with the team, and learn about the latest initiatives supporting Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb, and Specially Selected Pork. It’s an opportunity to discover how QMS supports Scottish farmers and promotes the outstanding quality of Scotland’s produce. While you’re there, enjoy some refreshments as you learn more about the vital work of QMS.
A key feature of QMS’s participation will be a Scotch Lamb butchery demonstration, which will highlight the full potential of lamb carcases. Led by Jock Gibson from Macbeth’s Butchers in Forres and Gordon Newlands, Brands Development Manager at QMS, the demonstration will take place in the School Children Marquee within Paddock 10 from 3.00pm to 3.45pm. The session will demonstrate the versatility of Scotch Lamb, showcasing how various cuts can be used to create value-added products. This interactive workshop provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to see first-hand the quality and versatility of Scotch Lamb and learn about the wide range of products that can be produced from every part of the animal.
QMS is also proud to support a seminar on genetics, led by Dr. Emma McGowan, Genetics Specialist at QMS. Taking place from 11am to 11.25am in Building 2, the session is titled “Improved Accuracy On Farm.” Emma will explore how farmers can play an active role in optimising the genetic evaluations they use. The seminar will take a deep dive into how one farmer enhanced the accuracy of on-farm phenotypes to get the most from his Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) – and the measurable impact it had on his genetics and business performance.
QMS’s involvement at NSA Highland Sheep offers a fantastic opportunity for the supply chain to discover the latest trends in the lamb sector, from genetics to butchery techniques. The event will feature a variety of trade and sheep stands, seminars, live demonstrations, and educational exhibits, making it a must-attend for anyone in the agricultural community.
Make sure to visit Stand 48 in Building 3 to connect with the QMS team and discover exciting opportunities within the Scotch Lamb industry. Don’t miss the informative butchery demonstrations and seminar taking place nearby.
