Scotch Red Meat returns to school: QMS Meat Voucher Scheme 2025/26 Launches
As pupils across Scotland head back to the classroom this month, they’re in for an extra treat. Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS’s) Meat Voucher Scheme is back, giving teachers the chance to bring Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb, and Specially Selected Pork straight into their classrooms.
Now live for applications, the 2025/26 scheme offers teachers the chance to apply for up to £180 worth of vouchers to spend with their local Scotch Butcher Club member on premium Scotch-assured red meat products at any time in the academic year. Applications opened at 5pm on Wednesday 27 August and will remain open into early next year, but teachers are encouraged to apply before the end of September to make the most of the free teaching resources provided.
With 303 schools applying for vouchers last year, the scheme continues to have a strong impact in schools, encouraging children to cook with and learn about high-quality, sustainable Scotch red meat.
All schools signing up before the September deadline will receive a digital teaching pack for each of QMS’s Tasty Little Weeks, alongside a class set of brand-new recipe cards designed to support practical, engaging lessons. This year, Tasty Little Pork Week will take place in the week commencing 27 October 2025, Lamb for St. Andrews (Tasty Little Lamb Week) will run in the week commencing 24 November 2025, and Tasty Little Beef Week will be held in the week commencing 9 February 2026. These themed weeks give schools the opportunity to focus on each protein in turn, linking classroom learning to wider industry initiatives such as the Lamb for St. Andrews campaign with the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland (IAAS).
To further enhance their lessons, schools can also request a visit from a local Make It Scotch Ambassador. The programme, launched by QMS, brings together a dynamic network of 43 individuals from across Scotland who share a deep passion for farming, food, and education. Whether through hands-on farming sessions, inspiring cookery demonstrations, or personal storytelling, ambassadors connect pupils to the real stories behind Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb, and Specially Selected Pork — highlighting Scotland’s world-class standards in sustainability, animal welfare, and local pride.
Tracy Martin, Reputation Manager at QMS, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the Meat Voucher Scheme again this year. It’s a fantastic way to help schools explore the flavours, nutrition, and versatility of Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb, and Specially Selected Pork. The free resources we provide are designed to give teachers confidence in the classroom and inspire pupils to understand more about where their food comes from and the importance of sustainable, locally sourced produce.”
The QMS Meat Voucher Scheme is open now, and teachers can apply via the QMS website. For full details and to submit an application, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8STNJS
