Sign Up Now: Quality Meat Scotland’s ‘Building Better Beef & Lamb’ Workshops

Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) Building Better Beef & Lamb workshops are your chance to gain practical, actionable insights to boost both the quality of your livestock and your farm’s profitability. These interactive events are designed to help producers understand the entire supply chain and how on-farm management decisions, from breeding and feeding to timing of sales, directly impact returns.

These workshops give farmers the opportunity to learn how to maximise profitability by aligning production systems with market demand, gain hands-on knowledge of herd and flock planning, genetics, nutrition, health, and finishing processes, and understand the timing of sales, identifying buyers, and capturing feedback to improve future performance. Attendees will see live butchery demonstrations showing how on-farm management affects carcass quality and have the chance to network with auction mart staff, fellow farmers, and industry experts all in one practical, engaging day.

Two events are being held during January & February 2026:

• Cattle Workshop: Thainstone Mart – Wednesday 28th, January 2026
• Sheep Workshop: Lanark Mart – Wednesday 4th, February 2026

Bruce McConachie, Head of Industry Development at QMS, said: “These workshops are an unmissable opportunity for farmers to gain insights that can directly improve productivity, animal quality, and profitability. Auction marts play a key role in linking producers to the market, and these events show how simple changes on-farm can make a real difference to your bottom line. Don’t miss out register today and take control of your farm’s success.”
